GEORGE TOWN: Angkasa-X, a leading technological-social inclusion company, has announced the launch of their A-SEANSAT-PG1 satellite.
The satellite is slated for launch on June 27 at 7.30pm Malaysian time from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia.
It will be broadcast live at three locations in Malaysia, including the offices of the Malaysian Space Agency in Kuala Lumpur and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Bhd in Kuching, as well as Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang.
With the launch of the PG1 satellite, Angkasa-X will leverage its technological know-how to lead the way in the future establishment of constellations of low earth orbit satellites, which will be designed and assembled in Malaysia in the coming years.
These satellite constellations will work together to form an innovative satellite-as-a-service offering to Asean countries.
The Penang government said it was thrilled by the news of Angkasa-X's upcoming satellite launch, which will allow the state to spearhead and serve as the launchpad for the space economy in the Asean region.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he was excited that the firm's collaboration with the state government, which began in 2021, was coming to fruition.
"The Penang government extends its heartfelt congratulations to Angkasa-X on its remarkable achievement, and is one step closer to realising the vision set forth a few years ago," said Chow.
"We commend Angkasa-X for its outstanding achievement, which brings pride and recognition to Penang and our country.
"Its remarkable work serves as an inspiration to individuals and organisations alike, demonstrating the outstanding results that can be achieved through determination and perseverance."
Angkasa-X began its journey in Penang and has grown into a global industry player, with dedication to propel Malaysia's SpaceTech ecosystem forward.
Angkasa-X chairman Dr Sean Seah expressed his sincere gratitude to the state government for its steadfast support and said its guidance was instrumental throughout the company's journey.
